T2+ Tests - Biome Striking

To determine the terrain for the next match, players will narrow down the available terrain options until a single choice remains. This process encourages more varied and engaging matchups by introducing different environmental settings. Biome selection isn’t required if the players mutually settle on a location or if no other alternatives are available.

There are five available biomes to choose from:

  • Snow
  • Plains
  • Desert
  • Badlands
  • Mushroom

Player 1 will eliminate one biome, followed by Player 2 removing two, leaving Player 1 to select from the final two options. The right to strike first rotates after each match, with the first strike in match 1 initially assigned to the player undergoing tier testing.

Testing for HT1

  • Phase 1: Beat two LT2 opponents
  • Phase 2: Beat two HT2 opponents
  • Phase 3: Beat two opponents in the same Tier as you
  • Phase 4: Beat the HT1 Player. If successful, you will steal their title.

Testing for LT1

  • Phase 1: Beat two LT2 opponents
  • Phase 2: Beat two opponents in the same Tier as you
  • Phase 3: Achieve an equal or better overall score against 2 players in the Tier you are testing for. You must get a minimum of 3 rounds on each opponent.

Testing for LT2 / HT2

  • Phase 1: Beat two opponents in the same Tier as you
  • Phase 2: Achieve an equal or better overall score against 2 players in the Tier you are testing for. You must get a minimum of 3 rounds on each opponent.

Testing for HT3

  • Phase 1: If you beat an evaluation tester 3-1 or better, you will be guaranteed a chance to test for HT3. With any other score, the tester decides whether you may test for HT3 or not.
  • Phase 2: You will be paired against a HT3 opponent, who you must beat in a First to 3 in order to receive HT3.

Missing Opponents

  • Replace each missing opponent with 2 lower-tiered opponents.
  • If you are missing an opponent from your region, you will compete cross-regionally with ping equalization.
  • "Equalized" ping must be within 20ms and within the same tick range. A tick range is 50ms, meaning a 99ms player vs. a 101ms player is not considered equalized.

Failed Tests

  • Failing a Tier Test will result in a 30 day cooldown.
  • Failing a T2+ Tier Test to an opponent who ranks up within 10 days of your test in a condition that you might have otherwise passed will result in the test being re-opened.
  • If you are testing for HT2 and lose 3-4 to a LT2 who passes HT2, your test will be re-opened counting them as a HT2 instead.

T2+ Retirement & Peak Tiers

Players at T2 or higher must maintain or defend their rank before their Peak Tier is applied. Inactive players who choose to retire will have their Peak Tier recorded on their profile. Peak Tiers serve as a way for players to preserve their points after achieving a rank.

T2+ Peak Tier Requirements:

  • HT1: 90 days without rank defenses or 2 rank defenses and 50 days holding the rank
  • LT1: 2 rank defenses and 50 days holding the rank
  • T2: 3 rank defenses and 50 days holding the rank
  • Rank "Holding" is considered paused while unavailable to complete assigned fights

Retirement Rules:

  • Retiring players must have 35 days of inactivity from their own most recent Tier Test.
  • It is advisable to carefully consider whether or not you wish to retire before contacting a staff member.
  • Contacting a staff member to retire means you will automatically be retired as soon as you meet the requirements (if not already).
  • Contacting a staff member to retire will automatically initiate the retirement process and cannot be backtracked.
  • Being retired means being unable to return to competition for 3 months from your initial retirement.

Demotions

Demotions for LT1 / HT1:

  • 1 loss against a lesser Tier will result in a demotion.
  • 1 significant loss to a player in the same Tier will result in demotion.
  • 2 losses to players in the same Tier will result in a demotion.
  • Winning a fight will remove a loss from your record.

Demotions for LT2 / HT2:

  • 2 losses to a lesser Tier will result in a demotion.
  • 2 significant losses to players in the same Tier will result in a demotion.
  • Both forms of losing are under the same counter towards a demotion.
  • Winning a fight will remove a loss from your record.

Demotions for HT3:

  • When testing, 2 consecutive losses to a player in the same Tier will result in a demotion.
  • Beating your first opponent removes any chance of demotion.
  • If a testing player loses to their first opponent 2-4 or greater, another will be assigned. In order to not be demoted, the testing player must beat their second opponent; any other score will result in a demotion.
  • Losing 4-3 will not result in fighting a second player and your test will be closed without demotion.
  • Being demoted from HT3 without a T2+ peak tier means losing access to the private practice server.

Any forfeit will result in instant demotion.

"Significant loss" refers to a score of less than half.
